Day #1- The Paint Mines
One week ago today, the models were traveling from Alaska to Colorado for Wanderlust 2017. This event came into being 1 year ago, when the organization I had been doing senior model events with stopped their model event. Having an annual event that allowed my studio to give a destination model opportunity to each graduating class had become the backbone of my senior program. I reached out to a handful of gifted photographers to build Wanderlust Senior Model Event. It's an event that allows me to truly focus on my models and provides a rich environment for collaboration with a small team of other senior photographers.
As I was editing the images for this blog post, I realized there was no way I could do that in one post! So, I will be unfolding the images to you based on each location we photographed over the next couple of weeks. Wanderlust includes 3 shooting days & 5 locations. This year, I chose Colorado as the destination because I wanted to celebrate my new home and build creativity in my new backyard. Colorado did not disappoint! It even allowed us to experience every form of weather imaginable in a matter of 3 days.
Day #1- We shot at the Paint Mines in Calhan in hot sun, then rain & a serious hail storm that followed us to Red Rock Open Space in Manitou Springs.
Day #2- We were blessed with pleasant spring sunshine in downtown Denver, followed immediately by a winter weather warning and a full on blizzard.
Day #3- We shot in a blowing snow storm at Garden of The Gods.
Springtime in Colorado- what can I say?!
Allow me to brag about my two winning senior models- Paige & Chatham. This whole past year, they have been a part of my studio VIP program and have been amazing representatives for Becoming Images. Their positive attitudes and creative spirits made them a joy to photograph and work with. When they were selected to come to Colorado, I couldn't have been more excited. During the shoot, one of the other photographers (Trish Koch Photography aka Trish The Dish) came to me and asked me how I taught my models to 'do that thing with their face'- meaning look amazing and professional. I said that I coached a little in the beginning when we began shooting together last year, but that this was just the awesomeness that is them! Paige and Chatham have such awareness of how to move and carry themselves in front of the camera. It's remarkable, really.
Please enjoy a handful of the images I captured of all of the models on our first day at the Paint Mines. There is much more to come, followed by some very exciting news about Wanderlust! ;)
Thanks for being here.

Bobi Trani - Thank you for the amazing photography of Chatham. It is stunning. And I liked your write up about the kids & why you choose Colorado.
Paige's grandmother was a dear friend of mine & I was touched by the photos of them together.
